Now that you have your template and your tools, it's time to customise your template.

You'll find that most web design programs have similar features. You just have to find out where it is and how to use it.

You will not need to upload your web templates to your server before making changes to them unless you're using a web based program. If you're using a desktop web design software, such as Dreamweaver, Frontpage or Composer, you'll only need to upload your web pages after you've made changes to them.

Editing Files and Uploading to Your Server

Once the files have been uploaded to your web server, you can still modify them using your design program. Once you upload them again you will probably be asked if you want to 'overwrite' the file on the server; just click yes and your new file will replace the old one.

Before adding content to your web pages, the first step is to make sure the elements on the web site are customised to meet your needs. This normally involves customising the logo and button images in your template.
